21 JUMP STREET The Movie Opens August 5th, 2011

Sony Pictures tweeted and it’s official that 21 JUMP STREET The movie will be released on August 5th, 2011. Based on the 80s series starring Johnny Depp. Star and executive producer of the movie version Jonah Hill previously said that  filming might start this year and they’re currently working on tailoring the script, by scribes Michael Bacall and Joe Gazzam to the vision of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller
Hill’s intention of making this a a full-on action movie, blowing shit up, an R-rated, insane, Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie
All of them agree on one thing.. that this will not be a parody. It’s about young rookie cops who go back to high school to deal with drug crime. I remember Hill once said in an interview that there is a part in the story for Depp if he’s interested and on a separate occasion Depp said he’s open to the idea.
