It’s weekend but Production Weekly tweeted a bunch of casting info, so I figured I’d tackle them all in one post..

Star of the upcoming TRON LEGACY, Garrett Hedlund has signed on to play Dean Moriarty in the Walter Salles-directed adaptation of ON THE ROAD based on the book by Jack Kerouac. Filming starts this summer.

Here’s the synopsis of the book..
“On the Road chronicles Jack Kerouac’s years traveling the North American continent with his friend Neal Cassady, “a sideburned hero of the snowy West.” As “Sal Paradise” and “Dean Moriarty,” the two roam the country in a quest for self-knowledge and experience. Kerouac’s love of America, his compassion for humanity, and his sense of language as jazz combine to make On the Road an inspirational work of lasting importance.
Kerouac’s classic novel of freedom and longing defined what it meant to be “Beat” and has inspired every generation since its initial publication more than forty years ago.”

Next stop, hottie Zooey Deschanel (500 Days Of Summer) is going to star as Ada Lovelace in the period drama ENCHANTRESS OF NUMBERS, to be directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Double Jeopardy), filming starts this fall. Other actors also attached to the project are Billy Crudup and Toby Jones.

According to Wiki..”Lovelace was a 19th century English writer known for her work on Charles Babbage’s early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine. Her notes on the engine include what is recognized as the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine; as such she is often regarded as the world’s first computer programmer.”

Next is Ethan Hawke who played the sympathetic vampire in Daybreakers, he’s going to star in the action/thriller THE NUMBERS STATION by new writer Scott Frazier.

Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen and Cliff Curtis are going to star in THE DREAMERS directed by Gérard Corbiau based on Orson Welles‘ unfinished last project.

Last but not least, The Messenger (check out my review) group, director Owen Moverman and actors Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster will all reunite for crime drama RAMPART.
IonCinema said RAMPART is based on a script written by James Ellroy (Street Kings) and was initially intended for Stephen Frears to direct. The project is housed at Mark Gordon’s film company.
Master blogger Russ Fischer of slashfilm said it might be about the corruption and criminal conspiracies in the Rampart Division of The LAPD.
