ALEX CROSS, Starring Tyler Perry, Opens October 26, 2012

Summit Entertainment has announced that they will release the adaptation of James Patterson‘s thriller novel, ALEX CROSS (formerly titled I, ALEX CROSS) on October 26, 2012.
Starring Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Edward Burns, Jean Reno, Rachel Nichols, directed by Rob Cohen.
Ed Burns who plays Cross’ partner, Tommy Kane in the film, told me last month at the press day for Man On A Ledge that the audience and fans of the book will be surprised by Perry’s performance..

“The thing that people are going to be blown away by is how great and powerful and strong and intense this guy is in this movie.
He showed up looking to kick-ass and absolutely did. It was great to watch.

I also asked him what’s unique and new about this version because Perry basically had to fill Morgan Freeman’s shoes..

“It is but it’s a very different take on the character
That series was sort of more closely connected to the book, it was more of a procedural.
This they kinda changed it and made it more kind of an action franchise
It’s a lot more runnin’ and gunnin’ and shootin’ and car chases and fights and things like that.

Sometimes when you’re on the set, you kinda know, ‘o we might have a stinker here’ but this film we kinda knew that Tyler is really bringing it, the movie is all the better for it.”

Alex Cross follows the homicide detective/psychologist (Perry), from the worldwide best-selling novels by James Patterson, as he meets his match in a serial killer (Fox). The two face off in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, but when the mission gets personal, Cross is pushed to the edge of his moral and psychological limits in this taut and exciting action thriller.
