And The STAR WARS Live Action Series Will Be Called STAR WARS: UNDERWORLD?

Here we go again, with the long awaited STAR WARS live action series. George Lucas previously said that it’s a difficult process, that they were just waiting to figure out a different way so it is economically feasible to shoot the show, a way to make it for about a tenth the cost of the features. And then last summer, the producer of the prequels and the in-development show, Rick McCallum, also the force behind Lucas-produced upcoming RED TAILS, said that the reason that STAR WARS live action series was on hold was because even though they had 50 hours of third-draft scripts, they didn’t the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. So the plan is for them to three or four years.
McCallum chatted with IGN and he revealed that the title is STAR WARS: UNDERWORLD. Ya I know, it’s kinda cheesy, especially after we’ve become so familiar with that other Underworld franchise, but McCallum explains why they went with that title..
“It’s underneath what’s going on,”
“It’s the criminals and the gangs. The guys who are running Wall Street, basically. The guys who are running the United States.”“They’re timeless,”
“They take place between Episode III and Episode IV. That 20 year period when Luke is growing up. It’s not about Luke, but it’s about that period when the Empire is trying to take things [over].”
That goes the same with what he said last summer when he described this new STAR WARS live action series to The Godfather;
it’s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it’s a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution.
So.. what do you think? STAR WARS: UNDERWORLD … but to me it sounds like Star Wars trying to be BoardWalk Empire.

So.. What Did You Think About TRON: LEGACY? Dec 17, 2010

OK I am going to have to call “shenanigans!”
When your name is GEORGE LUCAS and you make $233 MIL a year, which is a farce to the force, because you know it is much more, You have the money to make any show you want and WHEN to make it.
Besides, he has already recovered all of the spending he has had one of his 4 companies, LucasArts, for the release of “Star Wars The Old Republic” with sales up to $200 MIL ($200 Collector’s Edition Software x 1 Million members and still rising…) in the first 2 months. Shoot, Red Tails alone should bring in just as much also.
