By now some of you are probably tired of hearing ‘Space Jockeys’ associated with Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi flick, PROMETHEUS, it’s as if everybody just have to find some sort of connection between any image or footage of PROMETHEUS and ALIEN, though 20th Century Fox has tried and tried to distance this project from ALIEN.
Is this an ALIEN prequel or not? It originally was but then the script morphed to something else, but then the filmmakers and the cast have reportedly said that it had ALIEN DNA embedded in the story, so I ask again, is this ALIEN prequel or not? I just hope that that doesn’t backfire,.. that PROMETHEUS could be its own movie somehow.
LA Times has this new image of Noomi Rapace who plays the heroine and as you can see there what appears to be space jockeys suits.
In that same article, screenwriter Damon Lindelof explained the scope of the film…
“The movie is definitely epic in its scope. One of the filmmakers that we ended up talking about to a fair degree of redundancy was David Lean, who directed ‘Lawrence of Arabia,’”
“We wanted to make the movie feel big by having the characters be small in big spaces. That connected to the larger themes we were talking about — that we’re all just these little gnats crawling around on our little planet.”
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
PROMETHEUS opens June 8th, 2012
