Fright Night Anton Yelchin

According to Heat Vision, the kid whose accent as Chekov cracked us up in Star Trek, and was a bit too young to play Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation but recently signed on to voice star in SMURFS hybrid movie, actor Anton Yelchin is going to lead in the remake FRIGHT NIGHT…

Dreamworks is developing the remake of a classic horror film FRIGHT NIGHT with Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films are producing along with Michael De Luca. Back in November, writer/producer of TV’s Mad Men, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, Marti Noxon was hired to write the screenplay for FRIGHT NIGHT remake which will be directed by Craig Gillespie who helmed Lars And The Real Girl which I thought was an effective oddball comedy, but Gillespie’s other comedy Mr. Woodstock was  a disgrace.

The 1985 original movie was written and directed by Tom Holland, about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires. The new version of FRIGHT NIGHT will keep its horror/comedy tone but today’s technology will make the FX look scarier than before. Yelchin will play the character named Charley Brewster.
By the way, I still think Yelchin’s best performance yes was when he co-starred with future Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. in the coming of age indie dramedy Charlie Bartlett, if you haven’t seen that movie, then you got some renting to do my friend.
