Ice Man Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is a terrible actor, let me just throw it out there. I’m not speaking cause I’m some kind of f*ing Oscar winner but I’ve watched enough movies to make the difference between the great ones and.. Tatum. He was Duke in the recent G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and I mentioned in my review that just like in Zoolander, where Ben Stiller’s character only has one facial expression to respond to any situation, that’s how Tatum was in the movie. It’s not a lost cause, he just needs to get a decent acting coach because right now his looks are all he’s got and acting skills are nowhere within his reach. Somebody else shares the same sentiment.

Ya see.. there’s this author named Phil Carlo who penned the book THE ICE MAN: CONFESSIONS OF A MAFIA CONTRACT KILLER about an actual killer named Richard Kuklinski. In 2006, it was optioned by super producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the man behind G.I. JOE movie. Long story short, according to NY Post, after 18-months the option ran out but di Bonaventura asked to extend the contract for two more weeks so he could get the finances together but check this…. Carlo heard that Channing Tatum was in negotiation to star in this biopic and just like that, the best seller author pulled the plug on the deal and refused to extend the option and all because he couldn’t stand the idea of Tatum playing Kukliniski.

“I had to turn him down. I really hated the idea of Channing Tatum. I told di Bonaventura that this is not the guy to play one of the most feared killers of the 20th Century,”
“I think Mickey Rourke would really be good. He’s got that sense of danger, and there’s a similarity between the two. But it’s not Channing Tatum.”

No retaliation comment yet from di Bonaventura’s camp but I’m sure we’ll hear something juicy soon enough.
I looked up Wikipedia and found that this Kukliniski dude got a seriously devil son mean reputation.
“He worked for several Italian-American crime families, and claimed to have murdered over 200 men over a career that lasted 30 years; he killed his first victim at age 13.
One of his favorite methods of disposing of a body was to place it in a 55-gallon oil drum. His other disposal methods included dismemberment, burial, or placing the body in the trunk of a car and having it crushed in a junkyard. He also claimed to have left bodies sitting on park benches, thrown bodies down “bottomless pits” and fed still-alive victims to giant rats in Pennsylvania.”
Yeah.. I can’t picture Tatum in this role… he doesn’t have what it takes to pull this off. They should cast somebody with a talent to push the envelope, someone who can be give that intimidating stare and kill in cold blood, someone with no remorse.. someone like… Michael C. Hall (TV’s Dexter) but that would be too obvious and I don’t think he’d wanna be typecast.
