BATTLESHIP Enemies Are Out Of This World

Quick recap shall we. Peter Berg is set to direct BATTLESHIP live action movie based on the classic Harsbro game where the goal is to sink the opposition’s ships by guessing where they sit on the grid. The logline of the movie however is still kept under wrap. Stephen Colbert had his funny version but Universal wants BATTLESHIP to be an epic naval action adventure. Berg described it as “a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle”. Sounds like we’re going to witness the biggest battle between ships on the high seas since Russell Crowe‘s Master And Commander back in 2003. But…Here’s the thing, turns out the enemies a.k.a nemesis a.k.a the villains in the story might not be an opposing warship after all…
Latinoreview has heard from a reliable source that the enemies in BATTLESHIP would be… (drumroll please).. ALIENS!
I kid you not.. they say ALIENS, not day laborer immigrants, but those big-eyes short people with freakish hands and their massive spaceships that destroyed the white house in that one Will Smith movie.
It doesn’t seem fair, does it? To have BATTLESHIP in a fight against Spaceship.. unless the ALIENS have their own battleship which begs the question why they want to limit themselves on ocean when they can freely fly over BATTLESHIP and blow ‘em up with one strike. All of this is too silly at this point, the idea of a BATTLESHIP itself is downright silly but it’s happening alright.
Universal and Hasbro have set August 5, 2011 for the release date.
