Beastly, Charlie St. Cloud

Rama’s SCREEN is NOT a gossip blog but if you’re fans of Vanessa Hudgens or Zac Efron, you might be interested in at least knowing what on earth is going on with their new movies…
Zac has the adaptation CHARLIE ST. CLOUD, we recently watched the trailer. Universal will release it on July 30th, which happens to be in the same weekend as CBS Films’ movie BEASTLY starring… Vanessa. So ya.. Turns out the actors’ real life relationship life has become somewhat of a reason for CBS to move BEASTLY to another slot…

BEASTLY’s official facebook page has the following statement…

Beastly fans-You guys are awesome-so we wanted to make sure you were the first to hear the official news, Beastly is moving off of July 30th. We’ve been hearing from fans, so we know that having both Zac and Vanessa’s movies opening on the same day could be a real dilemma for people, so we are moving Beastly. We’ll keep you posted on all the latest, so keep checking back here for all things Beastly.

Some fans find this the statement appropriate, while most find it ‘unprofessional’. Comingsoon heard that the studio is “working on changing the marketing materials for the film”, that plus moving BEASTLY away from summer blockbusters are probably the reasons, not so much about Vanessa’s real life relationship with Zac.

Hell I don’t read much gossip, are they even still together? Did they have babies? And did the babies come out singing and dancing? Hell who cares.
The website also would like to remind you that BEASTLY soundtrack will be released on January 4th, 2011, so there’s a possibility that the movie might open on January 7th. I think that’s fitting.. I mean.. You know how it is with January.. it’s the month where you dump most of the year’s weakest movies.

CHARLIE ST. CLOUD is…Based on an acclaimed novel, “Charlie St. Cloud” is a romantic drama starring Zac Efron as a young man who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. In this emotionally charged story, he begins a romantic journey in which he embraces the dark realities of the past while discovering the transformative power of love.

Accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) has the adoration of mother Claire (Oscar® winner Kim Basinger) and little brother Sam (newcomer Charlie Tahan), as well as a college scholarship that will lead him far from his sleepy Pacific Northwest hometown. But his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it.

After his high-school classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home unexpectedly, Charlie grows torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love. And as he finds the courage to let go of the past for good, Charlie discovers the soul most worth saving is his own.

BEASTLY is.. an edgy teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty.
Kyle Kingson (Alex Pettyfer) has it all – looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity – and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating “aggressively unattractive” classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. Enraged by his horrible and unrecognizable appearance he confronts Kendra and learns that the only solution to the curse is to find someone that will love him as he is – a task he considers impossible.
Repulsed by his appearance, Kyle’s callous father banishes him to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper and blind tutor. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he chances upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) if she will consent to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” story.
