BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD Star Quvenzhane Wallis May Become The New ANNIE

EW said Oscar nominee 9-year old Quvenzhane Wallis is up for the lead role in ANNIE remake, to be directed by Will Gluck.
No confirmation yet but Quvenzhane is definitely in their top consideration…

Sonyhired Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends With Benefits) to direct this new re-imagining of ANNIE produced by James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will Smith in collaboration with Jay-Z
Gluck will rewrite the screenplay, based on Thomas Meehan’s book and musical. This remake will be contemporized and production starts in the fall of 2004
No word yet if Jay Z would still provide new music but he’s involved with the project
