Ben Affleck in BLADE

Relax! Ben Affleck won’t be making another sequel to BLADE… no, no, no
Even if that was the case, it would be hard to get Wesley Snipes to reprise his role because he’s having too much fun making straight-to-DVD movies and not paying taxes.

The so-called BLADE I’m talking about here is a crime novel THE BLADE ITSELF by the first time author Marcus Sakey.
EsquireMagazine calls is one of the best novels of 2007.
They put it as one of the top five.
And that makes it automatically in my list of books I need to read.
I’m still finishing Dennis Lehane’s Shutter Island, the story is awesome so far!

Anyways, Ben Affleck who is now a not-too-shabby director (Gone Baby Gone), will produce the movie version of THE BLADE ITSELF. And the project will reunite him with Gone Baby Gone buddies, producer Sean Bailey and screenwriter Aaron Stockard, not to mention the Weinstein Company has promised to support this one too.

For pit’s sake, Get a room!

The story is about two Chicago childhood friends who made their reputation committing petty crimes as kids before choosing different paths in life. When they are reunited years later, one is forced to decide how far he will go to protect the secrets of his past.
Will Ben Affleck stay true to the story or will he change the setting to Boston, which is his hometown.
Director M. Night Shyamalan’s movies are usually set in Pennsylvania area, his home state.
