In a recent MTV Interview, The Town director Ben Affleck revealed that he and his brother, Oscar nominated actor Casey Affleck are going to work on the next draft for THE TRADE, a project which was reported back in February as part of the next collaboration of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (2 die-hard Red Sox fans) as producers. Based on a true story in the 1970s about 2 New York Yankees pitchers who caused a national scandal by swapping wives. The original script was written by Dave Mandel (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm),which made it in the 2009 Black List (list of great unproduced screenplays). As far as who’ll be directing it or if Matt and Ben will star as the 2 pitchers, it’s not certain at this point but Ben said there’s a possibility Matt might direct. Check out the video below where Ben admitted to being jealous of Matt for having worked with so many great directors..

I don’t know how it’ll come together, acting and directing, but Casey and I have decided to write it together. Once the script’s kind of ready, then it’s like: Who’s doing what? What’s the time frame? Matt, me, Casey directing? Particularly for Matt, he’s had this extraordinary career where he’s worked with these great directors. He’s a great director who just hasn’t directed a movie.

THE TRADE is the story of teammates Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich who told the world during spring training 1973 that they were trading wives. Fritz got it on with Susanne Kekich and Mike got it on with Marilyn Peterson. Fritz and Susanne is still a couple til this day, while Mike and Marilyn are separated.
