Ben Stiller Will RENTAGHOST

Some comedians should stay on stage doing their stand up gig than be on the big screen. Seriously, I don’t know why Dane Cook and Russell Brand keep getting movie gigs.
So if there’s a chance that Brand would no longer be attached to a certain project, I say ‘good riddance, let’s move on!’..

Back in December, Brand reportedly agreed to star in RENTAGHOST for WB, which hired him for Arthur remake. Based on the BBC comedy series that ran for 58 episodes between 1976 and 1984 about a temp agency for the dead, a series which I’m not familiar with, any of you have watched it?
Word has it the producers want the movie to have similar tone as Bettlejuice and Gremlins
Created by Bob Block, the original series centered around the recently-deceased Fred Mumford who established RentaGhost that pretty much rents out ghouls and ghosts to the living but things don’t always go according to plan… speaking of plan, there’s been a slight change of it.

Deadline reported that RENTAGHOST now belongs to 20th Century Fox which has bought the screen rights and they’re going to reteam with Ben Stiller and his Night At The Museum writers Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.

The reason why things fell apart with WB and Brand is that the deal to have the project housed at WB was never finalized and Brand exited the project after Arthur didn’t open strongly at the box office.
Good riddance, let’s move on!

Fox, Stiller, Lennon and Garant are hoping that RENTAGHOST would give them the same success that Night At The Museum franchise did.
Lennon and Grant will write of course, and Stiller will play an American turnaround consultant sent to the UK to help reinvigorate a failing company. Expect ghostly craziness to happen.
