Brad Pitt Produces VLAD, A Summit’s Action Vampire Movie

Turns out Summit is not done with Vampires yet. After Twilight franchise ends with the possible Breaking Dawn movies, the studio is experimenting with other possible franchise but as far as vampire goes, according to Heat Vision, Summit wants to make another one but this time it’s more action-oriented instead of romantic teen angst…

The project is called VLAD, actor Charlie Hunnam wrote the script which was recently bought and Brad Pitt is producing with Dede Gardner via Plan B Entertainment. No word yet if VLAD will also be Pitt’s starring vehicle, with MONEYBALL in his pocket, I highly doubt he’d wants to be the ‘Edward’ in this story.

The reports says VLAD centers on Dracula as a young prince, known to history as Vlad the Impaler, the man behind the Dracula myth. But make no mistake, in history, Vlad III The Impaler was not a blood-sucking creature of the night. He was known more for killing thousands of people by driving a long stake through their bodies.. This guy was a sick evil individual but was no vampire.. Personally, I think he was evil enough, I wouldn’t be surprised if he did drink blood. However, his name, Romanian: Vlad Ţepeş or Dracula inspired the name of the vampire in Bram Stoker‘s 1897 novel Dracula. So that name stays or is now synonymous with vampires.

Summit is in talks with music video and photographer Anthony Mandler to direct the project. Apparently the execs were impressed by Mandler’s reel, report has it he drew comparison to Zack Snyder‘s 300, which got them sold because they want VLAD to be visually edgy and radical that will break a new talent.
