Jerry Bruckheimer Derek Haas

If you don’t know the name Derek Haas by now, please put that name in your library of movies right now, that space in your brain right next to Thalamus, I really don’t know what I’m talking about, I slept through my high school science classes for pete’s sake. Derek Haas is one of Hollywood’s prominent screenwriters, with partner scribe Michael Brandt they’ve brought us 3:10 to Yuma remake and last year’s Wanted. He’s also heavily involved in the story process for The A-Team movie and Beverly Hills Cop IV.

But what’s admirable about Haas is that he doesn’t forget his roots or his peeps, writers everywhere. He’s got this website called popcornfiction.com which is basically a place where new popular short fiction could flourish, and Hollywood could have a new resource for cultivating great ideas. A safe haven in which TV and film writers could showcase their pulpy short fiction

Super producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently visited the site and loved Haas’ short story SHAKE about an FBI agent chasing a killer while he begins to lose control of his own body, as a matter of fact if you go to that website right now, the whole story is still there on the main page for you to read.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Bruckheimer has bought the rights to SHAKE for a seven figure deal and also hired Haas to expand the story into a feature screenplay for a potential Disney filim
