Bryan Singer X-Men

It’s no secret that Bryan Singer misses his old X-Men gig. Singer has previously expressed his interest in returning to the X-Men universe which he once left behind to direct Superman Returns. Fans became the victim of that decision. X-Men 3 directed Brett Ratner was less than satisfactory and Singer’s Superman Returns was not a favorite to many either. Here’s what he recently said, via Hollywood Reporter

“I’m still looking to possibly returning to the ‘X-Men’ franchise. I’ve been talking to Fox about it,”
“I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast,”

Singer is a an openly gay man, so when he said he loves Hugh Jackman, I’m often confused if he’s talking about loving working with Jackman or loving Jackman like falling head over heels for the buff Aussie.

Fox is developing WOLVERINE sequel with the Frank Miller Japan story, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, written by Josh Schwrtz, dealing with the mutants with they were much younger, DEADPOOL movie starring Ryan Reynolds and then there’s X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO.
If Singer wants to return, he’s got either one of these 4 titles to choose from.
Producer Lauren Shuler Donner previously had said she’d be more than happy to take Singer back again with open arms.

Singer also talked what about X-MEN that he found fascinating, the theme that he made sure he incorporated in the his first two X-Men movies, the one aspect that Ratner sadly excluded in the third installment…

“trick audiences into thinking they’re seeing fireworks, but they’re learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say.”
“The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is — the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition,”

Singer said X-MEN is about tolerance and social structures and serious issues… Ratner on the other hand was all about the fireworks… what a joker!
Singer is also aware that big budget movies hold too great a risk is to just leave it in the hands of any filmmaker, he understands that he has a responsibility to help studios feel secure in their investments. Can this guy be any more awesome! His approach is spot on. Fox would be an idiot not give him another chance. I say have him do WOLVERINE 2 and let him show Gavin Hood how it’s done.
