Riskybusiness said Chris Pratt, the lucky bastard who gets to shag Anna Faris, he’s also a funnyman on NBC’s Parks And Recreation, has joined the cast of Columbia Pictures’ MONEYBALL which recently recruited Katrhyn Morris

Starring Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jonah Hill, and Robin Wright

This reunites Hoffman with his Capote director Bennett Miller who got the job after the project went through a tornado of obstacles.

Pitt will play Billy Beane
Hill is set to play Paul DePodesta
Wright will play Beane’s ex-wife
Morris will play Beane’s second wife who “loves baseball as much as her husband, so she understands and shares his passion for the game”

The report states Pratt will play “Scott Hatteberg, whose career as a catcher for the Boston Red Sox ended after he ruptured a nerve in his elbow and could no longer throw a ball post-surgery. He was recruited by the Oakland A’s the following year to play first base, and he helped lead the team to the playoffs in 2002 and 2003 with strong batting as a designated hitter.”

Scripted by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin, production starts in L.A.

Based on the book by Michael Lewis, here is the synopsis…
“The Oakland Athletics have a secret: a winning baseball team is made, not bought. In major league baseball the biggest wallet is supposed to win: rich teams spend four times as much on talent as poor teams. But over the past four years, the Oakland Athletics, a major league team with a minor league payroll, have had one of the best records. Last year their superstar, Jason Giambi, went to the superrich Yankees. It hasn’t made any difference to Oakland: their fabulous season included an American League record for consecutive victories. Billy Beane, general manager of the Athletics, is putting into practice on the field revolutionary principles garnered from geek statisticians and college professors.”
