Comic-Con ’10: SKYLINE Panel. Trailer/Footage Description
July 23, 2010RamaNo CommentsSkyline

SKYLINE Panel was a surprise.. not because it wasn’t planned or that it wasn’t part of the program.. I considered it a surprise because not many knew much of what it was about other than the giant building poster they saw outside the convention center and after the panel and the footage, many decided to give the movie a shot. SKYLINE is basically yet another alien invasion apocalyptic movie. The trailer even reminded us of BATTLE: LOS ANGELES which had its panel yesterday.
What’s impressive about SKYLINE is this was not a big budget production, as stated by the directors, Colin Strause and Greg Strause, who also happen to be VFX designers for BATTLE: LOS ANGELES. The key cast were there, Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Brittany Daniel and Dexter‘s David Zayas. After this jump, more photos and some description of the trailer and footage…

The trailer was a bit generic. One of those that started out with young couples having a pool party in L.A. They were awoken from their sleep at night by a blinding light beaming through the window Anyone who stares at it long enough would be affected. The light drew them to go outside and they eventually vanished. Next thing it showed was this small group of people led by David Zayas trying to survive the apocalypse. Unlike BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, this group wasn’t armed forces or the military, they’re just ordinary folks in the middle of a war, the kind that no man has ever experienced before. You see countless Alien spaceships in the sky targeting separate areas of the city.
So the trailer looked promising but the footage had me worried. Because it was low budget, and that was the filmmakers’ intention, stating that if Paranormal Activity could do it, then so could they,.. and so the acting and the sequence mediocre, too. Faison and Balfour’s characters suddenly figured out that the light was swallowing humans off the face of the earth. So they’re on top of the roof, Faison holding a gun, and they’re running from the light/spaceship that’s chasing them. The handle to the roof entrance door was jammed. Faison roughly fired a shot and then another but it didn’t work. A girl from the other side of the door opened it and she looked at the light.
