Paramount Pictures, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, has another reason to celebrate. Via comingsoon, Paramount is the undisputed winner of the worldwide box office competition in 2011. It beat other studios by banking $5.17 freakin’ Billion worldwide ($1.96 Billion domestically and $3.21 Billion internationally). Congratulations!
This win is possible thanks to such movies as Transformers: Dark of The Moon and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and also to DreamWorks Animation’s and Marvel’s movies that Paramount helped distribute like Kung Fu Panda 2 and Thor respectively, plus the success of Paramount’s first original animated film, Rango.

This mew year, Paramount will unleash WORLD WAR Z, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, THE DICTATOR and it’s been confirmed that PARANORMAL ACTIVITY will arrive later this year, I’m guessing during Halloween season again. Not to mention STAR TREK 3 in 2013
It’s going to be a bit tough for Paramount to keep its winning streak in 2012 because Sony Pictures has THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, and WB has both THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY.
But I raise a glass to wish the best and a fantastic 2012 for Paramount, the studio behind my favorite movie of all time, Forrest Gump.
Salut!
