Creation

I’m still not clear on the true intention of the movie CREATION based on the life of Charles Darwin. Is it just a personal agenda to shove atheism and evolution down our throats or is it ultimately a love story in the midst of faith and doubt? Will we come out of the theater getting a wiser understanding of Darwin the man? Or will we even be more confused than before and were better off not knowing much of Darwin at all? What is CREATION trying to preach?
As an avid reader, I regretfully say that I have yet to read the Origins of Species, I grew up in an environment that condemned Darwin and his theories as evil. But as an open-minded, educated liberal grown man, I tend to give certain things a fighting chance to argue their side, their point of view before any type of necessary judgment can be made. I’m sure this biopic will be one sided but at least it’s a start. Newmarket Films has released the theatrical trailer for CREATION starring Paul Bettany and his real life lover Jennifer Connelly, watch the trailer after the jump…

From director Jon Amiel and writer John Collee comes Creation. A psychological, heart-wrenching love story starring Paul Bettany as Charles Darwin, the film is based on “Annie’s Box,” a biography penned by Darwin’s great-great-grandson Randal Keynes using personal letters and diaries of the Darwin family. We take a unique and inside look at Darwin, his family and his love for his deeply religious wife, played by Jennifer Connelly, as, torn between faith and science, Darwin struggles to finish his legendary book “On the Origin of Species,” which goes on to become the foundation for evolutionary biology

CREATION opens January 22nd, 2010
