BEN AND KATE series may have been canceled but that’s not the end for actress Dakota Johnson. Because Deadline said she’s joined the cast of DreamWorks’ game-based action film, NEED FOR SPEED based on the popular EA Video game, NEED FOR SPEED, is being adapted into a feature by DreamWorks Studios, with Scott Waugh as the director…
Starring Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, and Imogen Poots.
George and John Gatins developed the story with George penning the screenplay.
The film adaptation will be a fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise. In Need for Speed, the cars are hot, the racing is intense and the story keeps players at the edge of their seat.
Poots plays a rising star stock car racer/dealer whose father has bet the farm on her winning. She does business with Paul and Cooper.
Paul plays underground race car driver who owns a garage that turns expensive cars into fast machines for racing.
He partners with a rich and arrogant business associate (Cooper), but gets framed and sent to prison.
After he does his time, he joins a New York-to-Los Angeles race to get revenge. But his ex-partner puts a massive bounty on the racer’s head, forcing him to run a cross-country against other illegal racers in all manner of supercharged vehicles.
Mescudi plays the driver’s best friend.
Keaton plays the reclusive and eccentric host of an underground supercar race where he invites best drivers from around the world.
