Dark Castle Travels To The DARK Side Of The MOON

There’s been a development on WB’s DARK MOON, or it’s more like a change of hand..

Last month, WB picked up a spec titled DARK MOON from scribe Olatunde Osunsanmi who helmed last year’s lackluster alien hypnosis thriller The Fourth Kind starring Milla Jovovich.
DARK MOON will be produced by Akiva Goldsman and Osunsanmi is already set to direct.

“Moon” falls into the burgeoning genre of “found footage movies,” which are purported to be reels or tapes or files found after the person operating the camera expired.
“Moon” takes on the idea that manned moon missions did not stop with Apollo 17 and follows a black ops post-Apollo mission sent to the moon to explore previously classified discoveries and its unintended and disturbing consequences.

Ok, now, recently you heard that Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov in collaboration with TWC would develop APOLLO 18, also a found footage movie about the supposed moon mission of APOLLO 18 that was canceled by NASA in early 70s, urban legend said the mission actually took place and the crew/astronauts shot footage of signs of alien life.

Ya see.. both DARK MOON and APOLLO 18 have similar premise.. Cases like this usually can be put into what I’d like to call Deep Impact Vs. Armageddon.. but these two titles too similar..

Heat Vision said when WB found out about APOLLO 18, the execs got nervous and so they put the project in turnaround. But the folks at WB-based shingle, Dark Castle read the script and loved it. Head honcho Joel Silver has authorized to acquire DARK MOON.
Deal’s not completely locked in yet but DARK MOON will now be financed and developed by Dark Castle. Production will start this winter.
We’re still going to have a Deep Impact Vs. Armageddon case in our hand after all. May the best found footage movie win.
