Del Toro Leaves VAN HELSING For MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS. Tom Cruise As The New VAN HELSING?

Last month, Pajiba reported that Guillermo Del Toro might be developing a new VAN HELSING Movie, which I thought was a great idea cause if there’s one movie that could use reboot, it’d be that one Hugh Jackman vampire-slayin’ movie alright! But shortly after that,.. Del Toro told DelToroFilms that VAN HELSING was just in talks and not quite certain and that he’d like to share his plans only at Comic-Con ’10, which he did. He announced the development of a new HAUNTED MANSION movie and recently Deadline learned that he will finally get to make the adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft‘s AT THE MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS with producer James Cameron. So where does that leave VAN HELSING?
Vulture said he had to give that one up. Yup, he had to let it go so that he could do AT THE MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS, which is also a Universal Pictures project. But there’s more, apparently the new VAN HELSING Movie was also going to be produced by and would serve as a star vehicle for Tom Cruise
Look, no offense to Cruise, I thought Knight & Day was a fun action flick but I’d rather have Hugh Jackman star in this reboot again instead of Cruise.
GDT may have moved on but.. word has it that Cruise is still attached to VAN HELSING, based on the same fictional badass vampire hunter character from Bram Stoker‘s Dracula… he is professor Abraham Van Helsing, the arch nemesis of Count Dracula
