Director Kenneth Branagh Has No Idea About Planned THOR Sequels

Marvel’s head honcho Kevin Feige the other week announced to the world that there would be more THOR movies, that they’re planning for sequels. Movieline asked THOR director Kenneth Branagh about it and he seemed surprised..

“Do you know, if that is true, that is literally the first I’ve heard of it? You are telling me news.”
“It’s is kind of news to me. Here’s what I would say to that: It’s that I’m thrilled they’re that confident. I shall wait for the audience to tell us whether there should be a second one, and then if that’s a nice conversation to be had between all of us, that’d be thrilling. But I’ve got too much Irish superstitious blood in me to assume that THOR 2 will happen. But if Marvel says so, then I guess it must be true.”

I think that’s a wise approach on Branagh’s part. Most studios today get too cocky and plan sequels even before opening weekend, before the reviews come in and the box office results arrive. Branagh doesn’t wanna get too hasty and I can respect that.
THOR already hit certain international markets a couple of weeks ago and it’s scheduled to open here nationwide next weekend, May 6th.
