Comingsoon received info from the mouse house that Sam Raimi-directed OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, will open on March 8th, 2013, going up against Sci-fi thriller ELYSIUM, starring Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, directed by Neill Blomkamp. That should be an epic box office battle right there.
The story is about a circus wrangler (Franco) transported by balloon accident to the mysterious world of Oz where he gets mistaken for a know-it-all.
Williams would play Glinda, the good witch, who’d team up with Franco’s character, snake oil salesman, to face off against Glinda’s evil sisters Theodora, played by Kunis and Evanora, played by Weis.
Production starts this July in Michigan
