Heat Vision said Ethan Hawke has joined the cast of TOTAL RECALL Reboot but his role in the film is not yet specified. But wait, there’s more,.. you’re gonna wanna know about this..
If you recalled (no pun intended) this new take is produced by Neal Moritz who said they’re planning to stay more faithful to the book instead of remaking Verhoeven’s film.
Moritz also previously said that the film won’t be in 3D and it won’t go to space… seriously?! I thought the story was supposed to go to Mars?! Well, It’s reported now that the story will ditch Martian setting completely. Yup!
The reboot is set in nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai
Douglas Quaid, played by Colin Farrell is a factory worker in new Shanghai who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.
So now you can forget the 1990 version starring Arnold!
Sony Pictures’ TOTAL RECALL reboot will be directed by Len Wiseman, starring Colin Farrell as the new Douglas Quaid, Bokeem Woodbine as Quaid’s best friend and Bryan Cranston as the villain.
Kate Beckinsale might get to play one of the female leads, LORI..
Jessica Biel might get to play the other female lead, MELINA
Sony/Columbia wants this to be a new, re-imagined, contemporized adaptation. The 1990 Verhoeven directed sci-fi flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone was based on Philip K. Dick‘s story WE CAN REMEMBER IT FOR YOU WHOLESALE.
It was about “a construction worker, Douglas Quaid (Schwarzenegger), who goes for virtual vacation memories of the planet Mars, but an unexpected and harrowing series of events forces him to go to the planet for real. It chronicles his attempts to restore order, and reverse the corrupt influence of commercial powers”
