FAST & FURIOUS Review

I really thought this fourth installment was going to stink like a muggasucka but FAST & FURIOUS ain’t too shaby at all. Finally, a decent one out of all of them in the franchise. You may not like the first three movies but the car chase scenes in this one, and the outrageous maneuvers or getaways no matter how far-fetched they can be,… are done in the most entertaining way, you’re definitely going to wanna fasten your seatbelt for this. Who cares if their acting is still terrible, the movie’s action packed enough. I find this all to be very surprising.

When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him. And from convoy heists to precision tunnel crawls across international lines, two men will find the best way to get revenge: push the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.

I remember Bryan Singer wanted Superman Returns to be the sequel to Superman II as if the third and fourth movie never existed. Well, I think FAST & FURIOUS should’ve been the sequel to the first movie, we didn’t need Tyrese and Bow Wow. But clearly I was never a fan of this franchise but this movie has made me become somewhat of a believer.
There are still those cheesy jokes, dramatic moments that are just cliches, and much emphasis on hot girls especially their booties. I kid you not, I lost count on how many times the cinematography follows women’s legs, spanning up to their sexy butts to give more reason for male audience to watch this movie, besides for the cars of course, which by the way kinda makes me want to join illegal street racing.. nah.. I’m too nice and old for that sh*t.

Ya know how sometimes you have to go through several trial and errors before you get to produce a decent something, anything. That’s the impression I get from director Justin Lin. I hated Annapolis and Tokyo Drift but FAST & FURIOUS is proof that he’s getting familiar with what kind of action sequences and thrills that his audience might be begging to see all this time.
The special effects will impress you, FAST & FURIOUS quite possibly has one of the most adrenaline rush pulsepounding intro scene in recent years. They take what we’ve seen previously in the trailers for this movie and extend it into fast paced yet elaborate act that won’t disappoint you.
Storywise, it’s not the best for an action movie, as a matter of fact I think it’s unoriginal and predictable but it’s got a few tricks up its sleeves that will be sure to keep your attention fixed on the screen.

Vin Diesel is made for this, Paul Walker is still replaceable in my opinion, Jordana Brewster is an eye-candy and Michelle Rodriguez.. as manly as she can be sometimes, there’s a certain hotness to her appeal that may have come from her being a tough cookie.
Do I want to see the next installments, Fast and Furious 4, 5 and so on? They’re already talking about it, so I have to prepare myself for the inevitable. But after watching FAST & FURIOUS, I’m going to keep an open mind from here on out.
