Thor

As we know, THOR starts production this month. The live action movie directed by Kenneth Branagh has gone through its screen tests and costume tests and Marvel President Kevin Feige was euphoric about it, via Marvel.com, he believed THOR movie will redefine the comic book genre. Wow, high praise,.. sorry FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA and THE AVENGERS.. but there’s nothing left for you to redefine. Ha!…

To be honest the thing that I’m most excited about right now though, is the screen test we just finished for “Thor.” We’ve done some costume tests and watching the Asgardians walk onto the sound stage takes me back to that first time I saw the X-Men on the set all together in Toronto. Only it was unlike anything we’ve ever put on film before! It’s great to be starting the next decade in such an exciting way just as we did last decade. We’re really redefining the comic book genre and what a Marvel movie can be. It’s going to be great.

Chris Hemsworth plays the hero with the mighty hammer and Tom Hiddleston as the villain Loki and Natalie Portman as THOR’s mortal love interest Nurse Jane. Kat Dennings plays Marcy Lewis,  Jaimie Alexander plays Sif, the tough female Asgardian warrior, Idris Elba as Hemdall,  Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Rene Russo plays Frigga, also starring Stellan Skarsgard and Colm Feore

Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Damned) is set to play Fandral the Dashing, a self-proclaimed Ladies Man and a master swordsman.
Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) will play the huge Asgardian warrior Volstagg
And Tadanobu Asano who was absolutely badass in Mongol, plays Hogun, an Aesir who often becomes the voice of reason.
The Warriors Three are supporting characters in THOR universe, providing comic relief and side adventures.

The script was written by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz & Ashley Miller. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth

Production is set to start in 2010.
THOR opens May 20th, 2011
