And we thought all would be well with THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE but director Terry Gilliam‘s long overdue passion project has hit yet another roadblock. He told Variety this past weekend at the Deauville American Film Festival..

“The financing collapsed about a month and a half ago,”
“I shouldn’t be here. The plan was to be shooting ‘Quixote’ right now…. we are looking for new financing right now”
“Don Quixote gives me something to look forward to, always. Maybe the most frightening thing is to actually make the film.”

Poor Gilliam. After years of waiting, after that first art and plot synopsis, after getting Ewan McGregor and Robert Duvall in the roles that were previously played by Johnny Depp and Jean Rochefort, still this project just can’t seem to move forward.

But the bright side is, via i09, Gilliam is planning on 3D-converting his 1981 classic masterpiece TIME BANDITS

We are in discussions to make a 3D version of the film ‘[Time] Bandits.’ That will not change anything in the film itself will remain the same and if I think it serves as some passages in ‘Alice [In Wonderland'], the 3D should work well. Anyway, I’ll have fun with it!

3D or no 3D, Time Bandits was a lot of fun and I’m definitely looking forward to its re-release
