A couple of years ago, director Zack Snyder (300) said that graphic novelist Frank Miller will be writing and drawing the graphic novel that 300 follow up will be based on, whether or not the movie will happen after that, it all depends on Miller’s completion of the book. Last year, Miller finished the draft for the graphic novel and was working on the artwork for the adaptation that WB and Legendary Pictures hope to eventually develop, the next story is called XERXES. Today, via DarkHorseComics, Miller’s first look art of XERXES has arrived…
Art by Frank Miller and coloring by Dave Stewart, here’s the description..
“Xerxes rose to power in fifth-century-BC Persia and became known as ‘The King of Kings,’ eventually raising and leading a massive army intent on ruthlessly destroying the hated Greeks who killed his father. Xerxes seeks nothing less than to become a god himself — and achieves his wish!”
Miller once said that it’s loosely based on the battle of Marathon, but seen through his lens
According to Wiki, “The Battle of Marathon took place in 490 BC during the first Persian invasion of Greece. It was fought between the citizens of Athens, aided by Plataea, and a Persian force commanded by Datis and Artaphernes. It was the culmination of the first attempt by Persia, under King Darius I, to subjugate Greece.”

The character Xerxes was played by actor Rodrigo Santoro in 300.
