Futuristic ROBIN HOOD Is On His Way

When I think of ROBIN HOOD, I think of a period piece with medieval costumes, there bows and arrows, Maid Marion to save and a band of merry men dancing in the forest after stealing from the rich. But picture this, in a not so distant future, there’s ROBIN HOOD with guns, lasers, computers and robots. Our hero and his gang is doing even something far greater than just giving back to the poor, the fate of the city lies in their hands. That is now a possibility thanks to the new project set up at Warner Bros.
According to Riskybizblog, Producers Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) and Gianni Nunnari (300) are teaming up to bring us a futuristic ROBIN HOOD, the myth, the legend, like you’ve never seen him before. Forget Eroll Flynn, Cary Elwes, Kevin Costner or even the upcoming Russell Crowe version directed by Ridley Scott, because I wouldn’t be surprised if this new ROBIN HOOD was half machine, that would be wicked!
The report says that the story for this new take “will be set in a dystopian London and center on a band of thieves whose activities restore hope to the city’s embattled population. Producers describe it as “a futuristic action adventure” that will be “both inspired by and pay homage to the legend of Robin Hood.”"
It will be directed by the guy who pitched the project, Danish commercials director Nicolai Fuglsig, apparently his visual presentation to re-invent this timeless tale blew Roven away. Scribe Jason Hall (Spread) will write the screenplay.
I’m open to this idea. As long as they don’t bring the story to space. What other classic tale you can think of that should be modernized?
