George Clooney Is Too Old For Jack Ryan

George Clooney

When George Clooney and his business partner producer Grant Heslov packed up and moved from WB to Sony not too long ago, info hit the web that Clooney was looking to do commercial maintenance gig by playing Jack Ryan if Paramount would want to revive the franchise based on Tom Clancy novels.

I thought at the time and I still stand by my opinion that George Clooney would be the perfect Jack Ryan, it’ll bring back the good old days Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford and make us forget Ben Affleck‘s involvement ever existed. Hell if Clooney was British, he’d make the perfect James Bond.
But MTV talked to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and he has another plan in mind..

“We submitted a script to Paramount recently,”
“It was well-received and it’s in the process.”
“It’s for a young Jack Ryan. I love George, but it’s not written for a man of his age. It’s written for a guy in his early 30s.”

I don’t know if I can trust di Bonaventura’s desire to cast younger actors, I don’t know if I can even trust di Bonaventura at all nowadays. Just this year alone, he’s been associated as a producer of Imagine That, Transformers 2 and the recent G.I. Joe movie.
And don’t forget the recent outrage that author Phil Carlo expressed because di Bonaventura wants to cast Channing Tatum in the biopic project ICE MAN. God forbid Bonaventura casts Tatum as Jack Ryan.
