Gerard Butler Almost Died This Past Weekend

I don’t mean to alarm you, ladies! But your dream man, Gerard Butler a.k.a King Leonidas almost ceased to exist after he got pulled underwater and dragged over a rocky reef this past Sunday.
So what happened really?!
According to ESPN, via People, Butler was filming his surfing movie, OF MEN AND MAVERICKS in Nor-Cal and trust me, I’ve visited some of the waves up in the bay area in Nor-Cal in the winter and those waves are mad crazy.
Surfer Zach Wormhoudt who was there, said that their group was caught off guard by a set of waves that came out of nowhere and back in Spring, pro-surfer Sion Milosky drowned at that same spot.
Butler was not seriously injured but he was taken to Stanford Medical Center after being rescued by a safety patrolman
Ya see.. this is why I’m the only Asian/Pacific Islander who doesn’t surf, I’ll just stick to running marathons, skydiving, sharkdiving, and climbing mountains ..  much safer.
Info about this surfing movie, after this jump..

OF MEN AND MAVERICKS, starring Gerard Butler, Leven Rambin, Jonny Weston, directed by Curtis Hanson

Walden Media cast Butler to portay Rick “Frosty” Hesson in the surf pic to be directed by Curtis Hanson. You first heard this project last year in the spring. Sean Penn was previously rumored to play Frosty, the role which now belongs to Butler.

Brandon Hooper and Jim Meenaghan are producing. Scribe Kario Salem (Don King: Only in America) penned the previous draft, but the movie will be based on Hooper’s script, it will be about Jay Moriarity‘s quest to ride MAVERICKS.

“Moriarity trained for more than a year under the tutelage of mentor Frosty Hesson, and in the process the two forged a unique relationship, ultimately transforming both of their lives. His story remains an inspiration to surfers around the globe, who’ve coined the phrase, “Live like Jay.”

Rambin plays a California surfer girl who is Moriarty’s best friend and the object of his adoration.
