GHOSTBUSTERS 3 To Arrive In 2011?

When there’s something strange in your neighborhood for the freakin’ third time? Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS 3. For the past year, we’ve been hearing solid info and rumors surrounding the project from the question of Bill Murray‘s reprising his role all the way to Sigourney Weaver ranting about the plot she had in her head. But we can always come back to Harold Ramis, probably the only one who wouldn’t promise bullsh*t about what we can anticipate. He talked to Heem recently and implied the movie might arrive in 2011…
Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future…GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011.
Cool.. now GHOSTBUSTERS 3 can go up against FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR, those two Marvel heroes better watch out those proton guns.
I’m still worried about the story for GHOSTBUSTERS 3, as I’ve said a thousand times before, because the writers are Gene Stupnitsky, Lee Eisenberg who brought us the awful comedy Year One.
No director is attached yet to GHOSTBUSTERS 3 although rumors of Ivan Reitman returning has been making the web go crazy, I personally think his son, Jason Reitman should take the job, just think about it, this past decade alone, through just a few movies, Jason has accomplished more than his father did, as far as award worthy recognition is concerned.
And I think Zombieland screenwriters,, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick should polish the script or better yet, do a complete rewrite just to be safe.
So far the idea of the logline hasn’t changed.. the intention is to bring back the old original team to become mentors for the new younger GHOSTBUSTERS team, Aykroyd once said, there’ll be female members…
Speaking of female Ghostbusters.. maybe they ought to look like these…
