Gilliam Wants Duvall For DON QUIXOTE?
December 2, 2009RamaNo CommentsJohnny Depp, Robert Duvall, Terry Gilliam, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote
There’s been a development in Terry Gilliam’s planning to to resurrect his passion project THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE once again, based on Miguel de Cervantes‘ classic 17th century romantic tale but a decade ago, production was put to a stop due to bad weather, budget problem, destroyed sets and lead actor Jean Rochefort’s back problems. The unfortunate situation, however, gave birth to a docu titled Lost In La Mancha. The director of the upcoming IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS previously said that Johnny Depp won’t be returning obviously because he’s hella busy with other projects and he’s a bigger, more costly star than he was a decade ago. But Collider may have found out who would be playing the new Don Quixote…
The website had a chat with the great Robert Duvall who revealed that Gilliam wants him to play Don Quixote. No details other than that for now but Gilliam once hinted that he’s found his Don Quixote, was he talking about Duvall? Hopefully we’ll hear confirmation soon enough. Gillim also said the script is being re-written and that he expected filming to start next Spring.
Jean Rochefort was playing Don Quixote in the first trial, and Depp played the character Toby, an advertising executive, who finds himself unstuck in time, unwittingly travels between modern day London and 17th century La Mancha, where he participates in the adventures of Don Quixote, who mistakes him for Sancho Panza.
