It kinda stinks that Universal decided NOT to greenlight the R-rated AT THE MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS because we all know Guillermo Del Toro would’ve delivered one helluva scary ride with that story. But as you know, GDT has moved on to PACIFIC RIM..

It’s a PG-13 sci-fi film to be written by Travis Beacham (Clash Of The Titans remake)
Here’s the logline…”Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.”
According to comingsoon, PACIFIC RIM has already entered pre-production and will begin principal photography in September 2011 for a theatrical release in summer 2013.
The project is produced by Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni for Legendary Pictures and GDT.

But GDT is still keeping himself busy because the same website reported that GDT who exec-produces the upcoming DreamWorks Animation’s spin-off, PUSS IN BOOTS (watch the teaser trailer), will have a cameo in the film. He voices Commandante, no details on that particular character yet at this point.

Puss In Boots – one of the most beloved characters of the Shrek universe – tells the hilarious and courageous (daring, bold, brave) tale of Puss’s (Antonio Banderas) early adventures as he teams with mastermind Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and the street-savvy Kitty (Salma Hayek) to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs.

PUSS IN BOOTS opens November 4th, 2011
