Ropeofsilicon often has this segment that tells you the MPAA ratings given to certain movies, so if you wanna know if the upcoming Jennifer’s Body will get NC-17 to show more Megan Fox in her ‘natural condition’, well tough luck, because the R-rating stays and it’s for other reasons.
But recently the website noticed something interesting. HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE has been listed as an upcoming title but it’s the.. Extended Version.
Blogger Brad Brevet contacted Warner Home Video to find out if it’s a DVD and Blu-Ray version or WB is re-releasing the extended version in theaters for a limited time and if this extended treatment will also apply to other Harry Potter films.
The reply didn’t say much except this..

Although we’ve not announced [it yet], all Harry Potter films are being planned to get special upcoming releases! “

I’m not too surprised with this strategy. After all, the final chapter, the seventh book, will hit theaters next year and the year after, so what better marketing and cooler way to get the Hogwartz fans all hyped up than to remind them of the previous installments but deliver each in greater packaging.
Pixar wants you to get excited about next summer’s TOY STORY 3 in 3D that the studio is re-releasing Toy Story and Toy Story 2, both revamped in 3D, coming to theaters this October.
I think WB should re-release all of the previous 6 Harry Potter films, all in extended versions, each arrives for one weekend, in select cities, leading up to HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part I opens November 19th, 2010, now that would be a worthy event to celebrate the Harry Potter decade (2001-2011) before we say goodbye to the franchise.

I googled images of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and it amazed me how practically saw Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint grow up right before our very own eyes this for the past 10 years.

What do you think?
