Henry Hopper, Mia Wasikowska, Gus Van Sant, Schuyler Fisk

The new drama by director Gus Van Sant (Milk) was initially called RESTLESS, written by first-time screenwriter Jason Lew, it’s described as contemporary and distinctive take on young love. It deals with the complex tale of a teenage boy and girl who share a preoccupation with mortality. But now the drama has become untitled and it’s gained more cast members that are in family connection which more or less is the theme of the story itself…

We already know previously that Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland) is playing the teenage girl and According to Hollywood Reporter, Dennis Hopper‘s son, young actor Henry Hopper is set to play the teenage boy trying to get over the death of his parents. Sissy Spacek‘s daughter, Schuyler Fisk will play Wasikowska’s sister. Chin Han (the gangster Lau in The Dark Knight) plays a doctor treating Wasikowska, and Ryo Kase (Letters From Iwo Jima) is a spirit of a World War II kamikaze pilot who regularly visits the boy and Jane Adams (HBO’s Hung) plays the boy’s aunt.

I think the most interesting character in this story will be that ghost of WWII kamikaze pilot. Can’t wait to see his influence on the boy.

Scribe Lew attended NYU and Bryce Dallas Howard did plays that Lew worked on and encouraged him to write this particular one as a screenplay.
Bryce brought it to her father, Ron Howard who then wanted to develop it for Imagine. Bryce, Ron, and Brian Grazer are the lead producers. Doug Belgrad and Andrea Giannetti are overseeing the project for Columbia Pictures
Production started today in Portland, Oregon, the location where Van Sant shot his previous movies Drugstore Cowboy (1989) and My Own Private Idaho (1991)
