Hi-Res Version Of Those DARK KNIGHT RISES Images. Hathaway Has The Toughest Job, Hardy Is Phenomenal, And Levitt Is Intriguing
Empire magazine‘s latest issue got Batman fans stoked by unleashing new images from the upcoming third installment, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, you’ve seen the scanned version and now, via comingsoon, here are the hi-res version of those same shots. As revealed by director Christopher Nolan, the story in this film picks up 8 years after The Dark Knight, so not exactly where TDK left off. Batman/Bruce Wayne a.k.a Christian Bale, who’s currently out promoting his Chinese film, THE FLOWERS OF WAR, chatted with Philippine Daily Inquirer and talked about his TDKR co-stars. Check out excerpt below..
Bale’s thoughts on his co-star Anne Hathaway who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman..
“I had plenty of scenes with Anne,”
“And I was there when we did the screen test for her. The thing that I said to Chris [Nolan] that day was that there were many very accomplished actresses who had read for the role. I’m terrible at auditions, so I’m very impressed when somebody really seems to acquire an ownership of a character without having worked on it or prepared for some amount of time. I saw that in Anne,”
“In many ways, she has the hardest job. There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So, I always saw Anne’s role as being the toughest job of any of us.”
Bale’s thoughts on Tom Hardy who plays Bane..
“a phenomenal actor. I like working with him a great deal. He goes the whole hog. I know that Bane has been seen in movies before. But, in my eyes, Tom is essentially creating Bane for the first time so there’s great freedom for him to be able to do so.”
Bale’s thoughts on Joseph Gordon-Levitt who plays officer John Blake..
“Joseph is a very intriguing guy
“I would see Joseph’s performances in other films while we were filming.
He’s somebody who truly seems to love acting. He’s a good, smart guy. He did a very good job in the movie.”
Bale’s thoughts on the portrayal of Batman that he and Nolan agreed on. Emphasizing once again that this is Bale’s final gig as the caped crusader.
“I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I’m taking that cowl [Batman hood] off,”
“I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it’s all done. Everything’s finished. It’s me and Chris – that will be the end of that Batman era.”
“We always maintained from the beginning that if you wanted to break it down, there are three personas – Batman is sincere, the private Bruce Wayne is sincere. The public version of Bruce Wayne, the playboy, is a completely fabricated performance.”
Filmed in 3 continents, with more use of IMAX cameras, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, which opens on July 20th, 2012, stars Oscar® winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard, as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake, Oscar® winner Michael Caine as Alfred; Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.
