Highway To Oscars: Battle Of The Exes

Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron

Their movies aren’t the only two favorites to win Best Picture, they as directors are also going head to head for Best Director category. The term Battle Of The Exes has been used by many to describe James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow this year so I figured why not use it again…

Cameron has said in a number of interviews that he’d like to see his ex-wife Bigelow to be the first female director to win Best Director Oscar, he even said he already got those statuettes at home anyway.
Sounds like a mix of ego and modesty there.
But having won DGA Award does make Bigelow a front runner. Hollywood and fans loved The Hurt Locker, although some may argue it was still an inaccurate depiction of the current war.
I’m beginning to question Hollywood Foreign Press. Association ability to decide good quality movies ever since Cameron and his movie AVATAR won Golden Globes, but Cameron himself was surprised, he was expecting Bigelow to get awarded that evening. Well, that evening could be this Sunday instead. Bigelow is going to go down in history and Cameron will graciously accept defeat.
