Hit REPLAY For Director Ben Affleck?
October 19, 2010RamaNo CommentsBen Affleck, Jason Smilovic, Ken Grimwood, Replay, Warner Bros.

If you ask me to join team actor Ben Affleck, I’d probably either take a step back or take a few minutes to consider and reconsider but if you ask me to join team director Ben Affleck, you can count me in because both Gone Baby Gone and The Town had me sold. When it comes to filmmaking, Affleck is not one to be ignored…
According to Deadline, WB, who previously offered TALES FROM THE GANGSTER SQUAD and SUPERMAN reboot to Affleck to helm but he turned them down, approached Affleck again but this time it’s about the adaptation of REPLAY based on the book by author Ken Grimwood.
This is not something new, Lee Rich wanted to turn it into a movie back when the book was published in 1989 and apparently Jason Smilovic‘s script is said to have strong qualities, it got the attention of several Hollywood’s top leading men.
The story centers around a 43 year old journalist who dies and wakes up in his 18 year old body and he gets to relive his life over and over. Sounds kinda like a morbid Groundhog Day to me. Anyways, the directing and the starring job have been offered to Affleck but he hasn’t said yes. Because it’s either this or THE TRADES, that other project about NY Yankees’ sex scandals that Affleck previously said he’d be drafting with his brother Casey. Maybe all sides can work something out so Affleck could end up making both films.. That’d be a treat.
Sure, REPLAY and THE TRADES may not be necessarily a crime drama/thriller set in Massachusetts are but like I said, if you ask me to join team director Affleck, where do I sign?!
Here’s the book‘s official synopsis..
“Jeff Winston, forty-three, didn’t know he was a replayer until he died and woke up twenty-five years younger in his college dorm room; he lived another life. And died again. And lived again and died again — in a continuous twenty-five-year cycle — each time starting from scratch at the age of eighteen to reclaim lost loves, remedy past mistakes, or make a fortune in the stock market. A novel of gripping adventure, romance, and fascinating speculation on the nature of time, Replay asks the question: “What if you could live your life over again?”
