Instead Of ZOMBIELAND 2, There’s Going To Be ZOMBIELAND TV Series

I’m a huge fan of AMC’s epic zombie series, The Walking Dead, and last night’s episode premiere of season 2 was phenomenal in my book. So I was stoked when I heard that the episode broke basic cable’s all time rating record with 7.3 Million viewers. Bravo, walkers!
And so Fox and Sony Pictures Television are drooling because they wanna have the same success. For a while now, there’s been rumors of ZOMBIELAND 2 but obviously nothing has happened. Well, it looks like you won’t be gettin’ that sequel after all. What you’ll get is a TV series…

Hollywood Reporter and Vulture said SPT and FOX are developing a potential half-hour comedy, not drama, based on the movie ZOMBIELAND.
This other zombie show will be written by the same screenwriting team that brought you Zombieland movie, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

SPT wants the show to be ready for the 2012-13 broadcast season.
The project was initially housed at CBS but CBS turned it down and then Syfy was interested but they couldn’t meet the financial demands. And now it’s up to Fox and SPT. Producer Gavin Polone said that if this ZOMBIELAND TV Show works, then the film’s sequel won’t be necessary.
O and don’t expect for Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone to reprise their roles in this small screen version, they’re now too ‘big’ for this.
