Real quick now, Johnny Depp previously said that though he loved working with director Terry Gilliam again but he’s too busy to return to the unfinished THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE and Depp felt that keeping Gilliam waiting for him would be wrong.
THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE, was Gilliam’s old passion project based on Miguel de Cervantes‘ classic 17th century romantic tale but production was put to a stop due to bad weather, destroyed sets and lead actor Jean Rochefort’s back problems. The unfortunate situation, however, gave birth to a docu titled Lost In La Mancha

The director of Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus spoke, via The Independent, and finally decided not to cast Depp again..

I can now honestly say that I’m not working with Johnny on Don Quixote. He’s booked himself up on a lot of other films. I wanted to shoot Don Quixote next spring. He said he’s not available and we have both agreed that I’m going to die soon, so it would be nice to get this film under my belt.

As far as who’s going to take Depp’s place, in an interview with Hitfix, Gilliam said he’s meeting some actors this weekend.
