Last year, 20th Century Fox’s head honcho, Tom Rothman reportedly said that he and the studio were doing all they could to get Rupert Wyatt back to direct RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sequel and for Matthew Vaughn to return and direct X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel.
Today, Deadline‘s article about Fox’s production president Emma Watts also includes a tiny bit of exciting info stating that the deal for Vaughn’s return has been finalized, it is now official, Vaughn will direct X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel from script penned by Simon Kinberg, with Bryan Singer back as producer again.
No plot details yet but this is step in the right direction, cheers, mate! Michael Fassbender who did a fantastic job playing younger Magneto in X-Men: First Class last year (which was well-received by fans and critics alike and did bloody well at the box office) previously expected for the friendship story of Magneto-Xavier to continue in the sequel
