Star Trek Mission Impossible 3

J.J. Abrams, the man who revamped STAR TREK origin this past May, which went on to earn $383 Million worldwide, is busy promoting the second season of the series Fringe which I think is a cool show. At first I thought it was just an X-Files rip-off but the last episode of the first season finale was trippy enough to be considered unique, although I don’t know how long Abrams and his gang will stick with all this alternate parallel universe concept before it gets old, they did similar style with STAR TREK.
When asked about STAR TREK 2, Abrams said to Sci-Fi Wire that screenwriting team Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have started talking about the story and Damon Lindelof is helping them out

“We’re hopefully going to have everyone, obviously, from the first cast. I keep trying to spread this rumor that I’m going to recast Kirk as Greg Grunberg, but no one ever prints it.”
“We’re just starting on that. Yes, we know the direction, but it’s very early. We’re working on a script right now still. I can tell you it’s cool. We have some really cool ideas, but it’s too early.”

Ha! Greg Grunberg playing Cpt. Kirk.. that’ll be the day. That would be a rumor as silly as Eddie Murphy playing The Riddler.
When asked if Abrams is going to direct MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4, he said he’s “open to anything”.. I’ll take that as a maybe.
It was previously announced that Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec have been hired to write MI:4 by using a story conceptualized by Abrams, the man that they’ve worked with for many seasons on TV’s Alias.

“Yeah, we have a really cool story. It’s being written right now by Andre Nemec and Josh Applebaum. We’re hoping to get it soon, like by the end of the year.”

At this point, MI:4 is scheduled to open in summer 2011
