James Cameron: Thinks THE HURT LOCKER Would’ve Been Better In 3D, Tells Del Toro To Leave THE HOBBIT To Jackson

We all know James Cameron is an ego douche king of the world, the billion dollar director who as much as we don’t like it, does have the right to talk a lot, considering what he’s accomplished as a filmmaker, but his recent statements just validates that even more. Via The Playlist, he told EW that he thought his ex-wife’s film The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the movie that beat Avatar for Best Picture at the Oscars, would’ve been better in 3D. Seriously, Cameron?! you’re pushing it, man..
“I think ["The Hurt Locker"] would have been better in 3D. Absolutely. It wouldn’t have been hugely better in 3D, but I’m talking a future where you don’t have to put ‘in 3D’ on the movie poster anymore, the same way you don’t put ‘in color’ on posters anymore.”
Ah, of course, the 3D prophet has spoken, once again with his magic crystal ball prediction
Wait, not over yet, so when asked about his thoughts on losing Oscar to Bigelow, this is what Cameron said..
“It was David and Goliath. Goliath had made more than a couple of billion dollars and ‘The Hurt Locker’ had made about what it cost to shoot, about $15 million. The Academy always likes to be the great equalizer. But I don’t begrude her any of that. I couldn’t think of a better outcome for our lives. I got my Oscar. She got her Oscar.”
It’s sad that it had to come down to those two. The freakin’ battle of the exes. It would’ve been more deserving it were between Up In The Air and Pixar’s Up.
On separate occasion, he told Australia’s Herald Sun, that he told Guillermo Del Toro to give up THE HOBBIT
“I was telling him for a long time to get out of that thing because there is only room for one captain on the ship,”
“Instinctively I knew that Peter was going to take over and do the movie. Guillermo, to his credit, didn’t listen to me and wanted to do continue and had some great designs – and I have seen all the designs.”
“Of course he would have done a spectacular job, but don’t we want to see Peter do it? He should do it and Guillermo should do his thing. That’s what I told both of them – you should just stay in your corners.”
Actualy, Cameron might have a point here,.. as much as I’m a fan of GDT, THE HOBBIT and all of middle-earth are Jackson’s thing.
At the same time, Cameron forgot the fact that Jackson didn’t want to direct THE HOBBIT, otherwise he wouldn’t have acquired GDT’s help
And it’s bullsh*t that a movie can’t have more than one captain.. TINTIN are both Jackson and Spielberg’s passion project and we didn’t hear those two giants bickering, keeping that movie from happening.
