Jane Levy Says EVIL DEAD Remake Is Not Funny. Bruce Campbell Says Those Evil Trees Will Be Back

The cutie in the image above is Jane Levy, she’s the one who replaced Lily Collins in the upcoming EVIL DEAD remake which sadly won’t feature the iconic character Ash but the man behind the role, Bruce Campbell, would serve as producer alongside Sam Raimi who helmed the original films. This new take will feature younger characters, directed by Fede Alvarez from a script that got rewritten by Diablo Cody (Juno)
Levy told The Insider that she’s stoked about being part of this project..

“I’m so excited,”
“I’m a big fan of the original. To me it’s the scariest movie, ever. But this one is really different. They’ve changed it a lot, but it’s still a pretty gory movie. My mom probably can’t see it. As for the tone, I think the humor in the first one came from the special effects of the time. I don’t know that they meant it to be funny…this one is not funny. It’s definitely dark.”

Campbell told the same site that those deadly trees will return

“They’re not terribly well-behaved this time either,”

“You can expect to have a damn scary horror movie. There’s no Ash character — The Evil Book is going to torment a new set of kids, so it’s a remake, or a re-imagining or … a re-whatever word you want to use. It’s going to be re-scary.”

Both the actor and the producer promises us that this reboot is going to be dark and scary.. or re-scary, however you wanna put it.
Levy’s got a good point though, the original Evil Dead is amusing to us, today’s generation, mainly because of the cheesy special FX and the B-quality of the film, it’d be nice if the reboot would capture the same style, but I doubt that would be the case.
