Jessica Chastain Leaves HORIZONS Or OBLIVION Or Whatever The Title Is. Olga Kurylenko And Andrea Riseborough Sign On

January 19, 2012RamaNo Comments,

Because Jessica Chastain (The Help, The Tree Of Life) decided to join Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled KILL BIN LADEN movie, she’s no longer able to commit to director Joseph Kosinski‘s next sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise. You may have heard the title of the project was OBLIVION but then it got changed to HORIZONS but now the trade calls it .. untitled sci-fi pic, housed at Universal. So I guess they haven’t decided on the official title yet.
So Chastain is out.. but that’s ok, because two hotties have replaced her. Variety said former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko (Quantum Of Solace) and Andrea Riseborough will be the female leads opposite Cruise…

Starring Tom Cruise, this $100 million sci-fi flick will start filming in October. The film opens July 19th, 2013, it will be directed by Joseph Kosinski. You even got to read the first chapter of Levine’s graphic novel online. Oscar winning scribe William Monahan (The Departed) penned the screenplay. Karl Gajdusek rewrote the script and then it got rewritten by Michael Arndt.

Here’s the film’s official plot synopsis..

based on Kosinski’s own Radical Publishing comic book series and takes place in a future where humanity has fallen to an irradiated Earth. Cruise plays Jak, a maintenance drone working on the planet’s surface alongside another worker, Vika. When a woman, Julia, is discovered in a crashed ship, Jak’s whole world is thrown into question and he finds himself strangely drawn towards Julia.

Based on OBLIVION, the 128-page illustrated novel that features prose, combined with over 40 fully painted landscape renderings. OBLIVION is distributed worldwide through Random House.
