Justin Theroux

Which one is more fun to do? Playing Guitar Hero or playing Air Guitar? Both ways are still pretending, but ideas about making movies based on either concept have been circulating for quite some time. They make real guitar-playing seem uncool. You can watch Vince Vaughn promoting Guitar Hero in his latest comedy Couples Retreat now playing in theaters. As far as the latter goes, AIR GUITAR was originally housed at DreamWorks several years ago, with screenwriting team… Ian Roberts and Jay Martel attached to write the project and it’s supposed to be an adaptation of both the 2006 comedic documentary AIR GUITAR NATION and the book, TO AIR IS HUMAN, the true story of how “mildly successful guitarist and New York Times writer Dan Crane relinquished his instrument and became Bjorn Turoque (pronounced “b-yorn too-RAWK”), the second greatest air guitarist in the nation. This exploration of the international air guitar sub-culture addresses the issue of dedicating oneself to an invisible art in order to achieve the ultimate goal of `airness’ – that is, when air guitar transcends the `real’ art that it imitates and becomes an art form in and of itself.”

According to Riskybizblog, the bad guy from Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle who is also the writer of Tropic Thunder and the upcoming IRON MAN 2, Justin Theroux is going to produce the comedy AIR GUITAR for Paramount. Barry Josephson (Enchanted) will help co-produce. The report says Theroux is not planning to direct or star in the movie. New screenwriting team Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger (TV’s Just Shoot Me) are hired to pen the story that’s going to have many colorful characters.
