I love watching classic films, probably because I wasn’t born when they hit theaters so my curiosity is the one that draws me to them. But there many that I have yet to see and one of them is 1957′s Italian film NIGHTS OF CABIRIA starring Giulietta Masina in a story about “a waifish prostitute wanders the streets of Rome looking for true love but finds only heartbreak”. So what does this film have to do with anything? After the jump…

Deadline has an article about Precious director Lee Daniels and his many projects. Some you have heard..like THE BUTLER which is a Laura Ziskin-produced drama based on the true story of Eugene Allen, who was a servant in the White House for over 34 years under 8 Presidents who each wrestled with and finally “stem the tide of segregation”
It’s an adaptation based on a series article about Butler, written by Wil Haygood. The long retired Allen was invited to be a guest at the inauguration of the United States’ first African American President, Barack Obama.
Denzel Washington is attached to play Eugene Allen

And then there’s the long awaited SELMA, the civil rights movie SELMA, with an impressive cast including Liam Neeson as Lyndon B. Johnson, Cedric The Entertainer as Ralph Abernathy, Hugh Jackman as racist sheriff Jim Clark, Lenny Kravitz as activist Andrew Young and David Oyelowo as the great Martin Luther King Jr.

The website also said he’s attached to the remake of NIGHTS OF CABIRIA. No further details other than at this point. No casting rumors either. By the way, the original film won Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. You can watch the entire film over at YouTube
